Ted Cruz compares climate change activists to ‘flat-Earthers.’ Where to begin?

OK, so Ted Cruz said something, and we went back and forth about whether or not we should address it because it's just baffling. But then we figured, yes, even the baffling things deserve some sort of response.
In an interview with The Texas Tribune, Cruz talked about climate change. Specifically, he said this, as transcribed by the Huffington Post's Kate Sheppard:
On the global warming alarmists, anyone who actually points to the evidence that disproves their apocalyptical claims, they don't engage in reasoned debate. What do they do? They scream, 'You're a denier.' They brand you a heretic. Today, the global warming alarmists are the equivalent of the flat-Earthers. It used to be [that] it is accepted scientific wisdom the Earth is flat, and this heretic named Galileo was branded a denier.
And then he said:
If you look at global warming alarmists, they don't like to look at the actual facts and the data. The satellite data demonstrate that there has been no significant warming whatsoever for 17 years. Now that's a real problem for the global warming alarmists. Because all those computer models on which this whole issue is based predicted significant warming, and yet the satellite data show it ain't happening.
And then he said:
I read this morning a Newsweek article from the 1970s talking about global cooling. And it said the science is clear, it is overwhelming, we are in a major cooling period, and it's going to cause enormous problems worldwide. ... Now, the data proved to be not backing up that theory. So then all the advocates of global cooling suddenly shifted to global warming, and they advocated it's warming, and the solution interestingly enough was the exact same solution -- government control of the energy sector and every aspect of our lives.
There's not much Cruz got right here.
First, Cruz conflates the science of climate change with the politics of climate change. Scientists don't scream, "You're a denier." They point to the scientific evidence that human activity is leading to climate warming -- the evidence of which is overwhelming. (Here's the international versionand the U.S. version.) There is no "evidence that disproves their apocalyptical claims," because if there were, scientists would abandon the theory. That's how science works.
Second, science works that way because scientists developed a system in which they created hypotheses and tested them. So it's silly to say that "accepted scientific wisdom" said the world was flat, because the assumption that the world was flat didn't derive from science. Instead, science challenged the conventional thinking, using a superior system for uncovering the truth.

Yes we can? Yes we can uphold the 14th Amendment, where it says 'and subject to the jurisdiction thereof' which means that the children of illegal aliens born in the USA do not automatically become US citizens.
It has been through the Supreme Court on multiple occasions, so there is nothing to debate. www.14thAmendment.us

This is a case where the science has been taken over by the politics of the day. In order to get the government grants that put food on your table you have to slant everything towards what that government expects for an answer. Basically the government is paying for the results that you see coming out in the scientific literature. Very few tend to buck this trend thus you have a so called consensus that the earth's climate is warming due to us pesky humans despite there being no clear evidence of such. If you take the raw data (before 'adjustments') and chart it yourself you will note there is no warming trend despite there being such a flap about this. Now varied forms of pollution are a real issue that we should be discussing. Things like Fukushima Japan's ongoing melt down of it's reactors that has been dumping radioactive waste for over 4 years along with a variety of other real issues are going un answered because of this hysteria over a manipulated warming trend.

The Tea Party Turnip from Texas Ted Cruz voted against the Violence Against Women Act, the science behind climate change, opposes the
minimum wage, wants to privatize Social Security, opposes marriage equality, supports racist voter ID laws, wants to drill for oil and frack everywhere, was a supporter of the Keystone XL pipeline, opposes all campaign finance regulations, opposes net neutrality and he does not believe in the separation of church and state. What a POS!

The turnip from the basement makes yet another ridiculous post.

Why do we need a violence against women act? Beating people up is already illegal, we do not need yet another special interest law.

There is no science behind "climate change", only money and the deep desire of the 1% to steal more from the lower and middle classes. You are being swindled!

Why do we need a minimum wage? Because decades of failed collectivist policies by far left radicals have destroyed the manufacturing base here.

Social Security is a socialist program that is unconstitutional and needs to be phased out.

Nothing racist about voter ID laws, we need them ASAP. Why do I need to show ID to rent a car or hotel room but not to vote?

Yes, let's drill everywhere there is oil, no reason not to.

Fracking needs to be on moratorium until it has been proven safe. If it cannot, it needs to be banned.

Campaign finance needs to be completely reformed, no contributions from corporations and limited personal donations that should be tax deductible.

Leave the net alone! Keep the rotten, stinking hands off government off the internet.

Where you get the idea this scum bag opposes separation of church and State shall remain a mystery. His religion IS the State.

  8. Ship him to Mexico since that is where his loyalty is.
    How Mexico Treats ‘Undesirable’ Foreigners

Mexico fiercely maintains laws against illegal border crossings; “verification visits” to enforce visa conditions; requirements that foreigners produce proof of legal status on demand; and enforcement and cooperation between and among immigration officials and law-enforcement authorities at all levels in Mexico. Native-born Mexicans are also empowered to make citizens’ arrests of illegal aliens and turn them in to authorities.

Mexico’s National Catalogue of Foreigners tracks all outside tourists and foreign nationals. A National Population Registry tracks and verifies the identity of every member of the population, who must carry a citizen’s identity card. Visitors who do not possess proper documents and identification are subject to arrest at any time. And for those seeking permanent residency or naturalization, Mexico requires that they must not be economic burdens on society and must have clean criminal histories. Those seeking to obtain Mexican citizenship must show a birth certificate, provide a bank statement proving economic independence, pass an exam, and prove they can provide their own health care.

Applicants are assessed based on a point system using factors such as level of education, employment experience, and scientific and technological knowledge. Property acquisition and ownership by foreigners is still severely restricted. Mexican corporations are banned from hiring illegal aliens.

And this is ten years after they came out with their report, and nobody ever talks about that. Instead of providing scientific facts, principles, and logic, Edward chooses to bring in a plethora of unrelated political issues to prove a scientific hypothesis. That's why it's called "junk science." Politicians work on what they can say to obtain an advantage, regardless of truth or honesty. Merely the switch to "climate change" is a hallmark of the propagandist, the PR guru. Climate ALWAYS changes so the term is not an honest description of the issue in discussion. Using "climate change" in a dishonest way to mean global warming shows the propagandist at work.

Sounds to me like like Mr Cruze ia a real American - not a communist sympathizer.
As for the "There's not much Ted Cruze got Right" paragraph - as a scientist (Chemist) Every thing he said regarding Global Warming (now renamed climate change because there's no warming) is absolutely true. There are two kinds of scientists - scientists and "political" scientists . My first two jobs after college (both US Gov't) I was a "political" scientist. I spent almost as much time (altering) making the data look like what they wanted to find as I did doing analysis. And this is the problem with the warming predictions - the original data had been altered to present a desired outcome (and never mind the flawed models used to analyze that data.
For an in depth look at the extent to which that original data has been modified - along with excellent explanations see:

  17. Actually, I believe that I've read that this guy is a Puerto Rican.

Either way, however, the brass set this swarmy little race hustler has is nothing short of amazing. Remember those parades full of mestizos who were marching out in the streets of Mexifornia back during the first term of Mr. I Lied about WMD's, when that cocaine brain damaged weasel and Juan McInsane and the thankfully now dead and decomposing scumbag Ted Kennedy tried 5 times to ram amnesty down the throats of an American population who were 80-90 percent opposed to it? Remember those signs that those mestizos were carrying, which told 'Whitey to go back to Europe, because the mestizos were taking over"?

That is precisely the same attitude that Luis Gutierrez has percolating around inside his golf ball sized Puerto Rican brain, folks.

Ponder this fact: Creatures of so-called 'Hispanic' descent own, occupy and have full dominance and control over every square inch of geographic territory from the US-Mexico border all the way down to the remote tip of South America. From a strictly land mass comparison standpoint, that is far more land than which constitutes the continental United States of America, which is a White European founded, tamed, and created nation.

That's right. White Europeans are the owners of North America, folks. Our ancestors, not the ancestors of Luis Gutierrez, are who fought for this land and who suffered the consequences of settling a harsh and unforgivable wilderness, and who made the sacrifices which were necessary to claim this land for their own. By right of conquest, the USA belongs to the White European descendants of our 100 percent White European Founding Fathers and of our White European ancestors - it is our birthright, our inheritance, and our Founders stated as much in countless of their writings on this matter.

Hence, if Luis Gutierrez and his cabal of nation thieves want to take this land away from White Europeans - then, I say, let's get it on. Let's meet on a field of battle and let's decide who owns America the old fashioned way.

    Mano on Mano, Luis.

  18. This author is the perfect example of what Cruz is talking about when he mentions that climate warming evidence is 'overwhelming' and then doesn't present this evidence. To see the real 'overwhelming evidence', one just needs to look out the window and notice the record snow falls and record setting cold temps.

  19. I agree. and the gov't ignores the 'real' pollution like fracking, GMO crop contamination, approval of dangerous pesticides and glysophate. The big $$ companies are allowed to operate under a different set of rules of everyone else.
