“Overzealous, dangerous patriotism”: School nurse refused to treat student who didn’t stand for Pledge of Allegiance

The American Humanist Association, an atheist group, has sent a letter of complaint to Pennsylvania's Carlisle Area School District after a school nurse at Wilson Middle School refused to treat a middle school student who didn't stand during the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance.
According to the letter, when the student was confronted by the nurse, she responded that she had the right not to stand if she wanted. The nurse responded, "Fine, then leave! I have the right not to service you!"
The AHA's attorney, Monica Miller, wrote:
The student reports that she left the nurse’s office in tears and went to the administrative offices to call her mother. A secretary then led the student to an office, but at that time the same nurse appeared again, saying, “She isn't calling a parent until I have a long conversation with her!” Still sobbing, the student said she only wanted to call her mother. At this point a school counselor arrived and took the student to his office, where the student remained for the first two class periods. Though he showed some sympathy, he also incorrectly instructed the student that she should stand in the hallway if she does not wish to stand for the Pledge exercise!
"The actions of the nurse are indefensible, as she provides an example of the kind of overzealous, dangerous patriotism that any true patriot would loathe," the letter continued.

...after all the legal niceties were observed...I'd pay a very congenial visit to Nurse Rachett's home....where we'd have a discussion about her professional responsibilities. A conversation that she would never forget.

This is a kind of fundamentalism hiding behind nationalism. This behavior is a logical result of 150 years of forced government schooling. The American experiment was about responsibility, independence, and self-reliance.These virtues are hunted down in school without mercy like the buffaloes on the plains. This girl's sin was to display independence. If you want the real agenda of government run schools, read The Underground History of American Education, John Taylor Gatto.

  4. Oh I see a training problem here, but obviously it's not the people who need the training. It looks more like quality police cost too much so they are now ruining the country's police forces just like they ruined public schools with unaccredited teachers.

  5. After this kid gets justice in this case, perhaps in the future they should recite Matt Groening's famous alternative pledge. There's no way the teacher or anyone else can tell the difference:

“I plead alignment to the flakes of the untitled snakes of a merry cow and to the republicrats for which they scam: one
nacho, underpants with licorice and jugs of wine for owls.”

Sensitive police officers over react and do so violently when they feel that they have been disrespected or challenged.. You must be sensitive to their needs! Allow them to file false charges, allow them to mace you, tase you, beat you and murder you or you could hurt their feelings, especially if you object to their crimes against you!

That's hysterical...and of course, there's not so much as a suggestion that maybe cops shouldn't be trained to kill whomever pisses them off, and taught how to over up their cold-blooded murders in court.
