Fellow Classmates Tell High School Student to ‘Go Kill Herself’ After She Posted This Yearbook Pic

Yearbooks have always been a place for memories and playful jokes between students for later-in-life nostalgia.
But, one Washington state high school student is under fire for submitting this photo to her school’s yearbook:
The girl in the photo, known only as ‘Rachel,’ has been accused of ‘black-facing,’ not just by classmates at Shorewood High School, but incensed Twitter users who’ve continually shared the pic.
One junior, Case Macklin, told Seattle NBC affiliate King 5 that ‘Rachel’ has even received death threats:
“There have been pretty mean comments.”
“Some people have actually been telling her to go kill herself.”
Apparently the student in question put on an exorbitant amount of bronzer and the photo was captured in Snapchat with no racist implications meant.
A member of the Shorewood High School black student union, Melen Ghebrai, commented about the controversial photo:
“Just because it may not be offensive to you, it still may be offensive to other minority groups.”
The school offered to place a sticker over the picture for anyone who finds it offensive. District officials also offered an apology.
