An NYPD sergeant has been convicted for raping the 13-year-old daughter of his former girlfriend, according to the Bronx District Attorney's Office.
The 39-year-old Sgt. Vladimir Krull, who worked at Manhattan's Midtown North Precinct, dated his victim's mother for two years and began abusing her daughter in September 2013 by kissing her on the mouth, the Bronx DA's Office said.
He also had sex with the teen twice — once at her house and once in his car — and ordered her to give him oral sex in June 2014 after he took her to a father/daughter breakfast at her eighth grade class, officials said.
“The defendant horrifically abused the trust of this family and engaged in sexual acts with a child," Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark said in a statement. "He now faces prison time for his depravity, and I hope his conviction reinforces the message that we do not stop until we get justice for the most vulnerable of victims.”
A jury convicted Krull on Monday of two counts of rape, two counts of a criminal sex act, three counts of sexual abuse and one count of endangering the welfare of a child. He will face up to 21 years in prison at his March 6 sentencing.
Krull has been terminated from the police force, according to the NYPD.
His attorney Roger Blank said that there was no physical evidence to back up the allegations against his client and that they disagreed with the outcome of the case.
"We are disappointed in the verdict," he said, "but obviously we respect the jury's decision."
